Our team at Chimneys for Africa is comprised of passionate individuals dedicated to providing effective chimney solutions for low-income and economically vulnerable communities.
With experience in living in remote communities in Africa and Australia, technical design, and chimney installation, we strive to make every chimney meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
Principle Designer & Engineer
David Baulis
David is an engineer passionate about products and solutions that address problems in a resolved manner. Previously, David worked in the design & manufacturing industry at Quality Production Engineering and as a consultant in public policy in Australia.
Since 2020 David has been involved in philanthropic space, working as an analyst for Yajilarra and as a Program/Project Manager with the Ikunji people in Haasts Bluff remote indigenous community.
He approaches design projects by listening well—its only then that products that matter can be created.
Anthropologist & Field Expert
Natasha Baulis
Natasha is a skillful anthropologist who spent 6 years in East Africa developing media tools for local communities, including working in partnership with Vision Fund. She has also worked in research and public policy in Australia and New Zealand, specializing in AI, education and anthropology.
She holds degrees in International Studies, Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development, and Anthropology, Art and Human Perception. She is currently completing a PhD in History and Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, Australia.
